Pareva Orange Pudding

Ingredients
- 1.500 ml orange juice
- 2.80 gram orange jelly powder, 1 packet
- 3.2 eggs, separated
- 4.30 ml sugar
- 5.15 ml custard powder
Method
- 1.Bring the orange juice to the boil.
- 2.Add the jelly powder and stir until dissolved.
- 3.Beat the egg yolks, sugar and custard powder.
- 4.Slake with a little of the hot liquid.
- 5.Pour into the simmering juice and jelly.
- 6.Bring back to the boil, stirring all the while.
- 7.Should thicken sufficiently to coat the back of a spoon.
- 8.Cool.
- 9.Beat egg whites until stiff.
- 10.FOLD the cooled orange mixture into the beaten whites.
- 11.Pour into a pretty glass bowl and put in fridge to set.
Notes
- 'Pareva' is a variant spelling of 'pareve' — neither milk nor meat (kosher dietary term). This pudding is non-dairy.
- Original note: 'This is a very small pudding so double.' — double the recipe for a larger crowd.
