Simple Baked Apples

Ingredients
- 1.apples, whole, unpeeled
- 2.teaspoon syrup, 1 teaspoon per apple, placed in the bottom of the cored hole
- 3.sugar, to fill the cored hole
- 4.water, slightly sweetened; to fill baking dish ¾ way
Method
- 1.Slice a 'lid' off each apple.
- 2.Core apples — be careful not to pierce the bottom.
- 3.Put a teaspoon of syrup into bottom of apple.
- 4.Fill rest of hole with sugar.
- 5.Put back 'lid'.
- 6.Put into a baking dish filled ¾ way with slightly sweetened water.
- 7.Bake in a moderate oven until soft.
- 8.These apples must be watched and basted often.
- 9.Serve at room temperature.
Notes
- No specific quantities given — ingredients are embedded in the method. Recipe is intentionally simple and flexible.
- Serve with Shirli's Creme Fraiche for an excellent combination.
