Ingredients
- 1.bow-tie pasta, 250–500 g farfalle/bow-ties; amount depends on serving size
- 2.Orley Whip, 1 sachet; non-dairy whipping cream; whipped
- 3.mayonnaise, 4 generous tablespoons; Hellman's brand
- 4.salt and sugar, to taste
Method
- 1.Boil pasta in salted water. Drain and rinse well with cold water.
- 2.Make a dressing by whipping the Orley Whip and folding in the mayonnaise.
- 3.Season to taste with a little salt and sugar.
- 4.Mound pasta on a pretty platter. Top with the dressing.
- 5.Adjust dressing quantity to pasta quantity.
Notes
- Orley Whip = South African non-dairy whipping cream substitute (pareve). Whip before folding in the mayonnaise.
- The recipe deliberately gives a range (250–500 g pasta) — scale dressing accordingly.
- Sugar is used to balance the dressing — unusual but characteristic of SA recipes.
